On 15 October 2025, the Institute of Public Finance hosted the presentation of the textbook “Introduction to Macroeconomic Modelling” (FEBZG, 2025) written by Professor Josip Tica from the Faculty of Economics and Business University in Zagreb. The textbook represents a significant contribution to Croatian economic literature.
The textbook is the result of many years of teaching and research experience. It covers key theoretical models and their practical applications and stands out for its clear structure and pedagogical approach, enabling students to connect fundamental economic knowledge with advanced aspects of macroeconomic modelling.
Professor Tica adopts a systematic and practical approach, offering readers a comprehensive insight into the theoretical foundations and analytical tools that shape modern macroeconomic policies. Particular emphasis is placed on integrating well-known static theoretical models with spreadsheet tools, helping students and researchers understand the logic of economic modelling and the analysis of policy impacts and economic shocks.
Intended for students, researchers, and anyone interested in understanding economic dynamics, the textbook makes a valuable contribution to education and analytical work in macroeconomics. By connecting familiar concepts with more advanced computational simulations, it provides readers with an accessible introduction to the practice of computer-based macroeconomic modelling.
The presentation was moderated by Simona Prijaković, researcher at the Institute of Public Finance.
